Naminoue Beach is the only swimming beach in Naha City. Because it sits right in the city, it is often called the “last stop” for visitors to Okinawa. Deck chairs, parasols and swim rings are available to rent, and showers, changing rooms and restrooms are provided. Since 2001 the beach has aimed to become the first barrier-free beach in Okinawa Prefecture, with accessible restrooms and showers, and a wooden boardwalk along the shore means wheelchair users can reach the water’s edge.

A Shinto shrine in Naha City. Under the modern shrine ranking system it was designated a Kanpei-shosha, and today it is listed as a Beppyo shrine by the Association of Shinto Shrines. Standing on a bluff overlooking Naha Port, it has long been affectionately known as “Nanmin-san” or “Nanmin.” It is one of the Eight Shrines of Ryukyu and has been recognized as the new Ichinomiya of the Ryukyu Kingdom by the National Association of Ichinomiya.

These symbolic statues were erected to mark the 30th anniversary, in 2011, of the sister-city relationship between Naha and Fuzhou, China, established in 1981, and to celebrate the continued friendship and exchange between the two cities. The statues stand 15 m tall and 3 m wide and are made of granite from Fujian Province, China.

Located west of the Matsuyama intersection on Route 58, this is one of Okinawa’s most famous nightlife districts. Bordering Wakasa, Maejima, Kumoji and Kume, the streets come alive after dark and stay busy until late into the night. It is truly one of Okinawa’s great cities that never sleep.
